Delta and the Bannermen is definitely one of the most polarizing Doctor Who serials; either you treasure it or disapprove it. Its unpleasant reputation probably comes from being sandwiched in the middle of Sylvester McCoy’s first season in the lead role, which is universally written off as 14 episodes of childish, gaudy faffing about offset by monstrous dialogue, cheap production values, and, of course, the rightly tainted “demo mode on Casio keyboard” music of Keff McCulloch ragged for all but one of the season’s episodes.

Well, Delta is probably the best episode of the otherwise calamitous 24th season of the reveal. The first two serials of the McCoy era did not paint the character with a trustworthy quality brush; in Time and the Rani, the Doctor went arrangement beyond his regular eccentricity and became fair unimaginative peculiar and often facetious; I submit the mixed metaphors he regularly spouts throughout that episode (“Time and tide melts the snowman,” “Two wrongs don’t do a left turn,” et al.) as evidence. And the script? For a comedic episode, it’s not abominable. As for the DVD, it includes an early edit of share one, with extended and rearranged scenes (and lacking music and sound effects), a documentary about Doctor Who laughable strips, continuities from the novel 1987 transmission, and the obligatory audio commentary, among other things; typical of the advantageous DVD releases you’ve reach to seek information from from the BBC.

I should have known when I saw this was a follow on from Fairytopia that I would be disappointed. This is the memoir of Elina, who in the movie Fairytopia saved her country of Fairytopia and gained her wings. In this she is sent an urgent message from the Prince of Mermaidia (who briefly appeared in Fairytopia) who asks for her to succor him. The movie is fleshy of the trials and tribulations she goes through for him, along with his girlfriend Nori. I inquire of it is deliberate they have named the Mermaid heroine after Japanese Edible seaweed but it seems ill-considered.

Anyway – the superb things about the movie, it is brightly coloured, and the costumes for the characters are resplendent, when Elina becomes a mermaid she looks objective resplendent. There are really nice messages in this – about overcoming jealousy, selflessness, sharing and the power of team work. Some of these messages are laid on with a trowel, but on the other hand it is for young children and I judge the message needs to be strong. And lets win proper here, the movies aren’t aimed at adults. However I thinksome of hte best movies are those that can easily be watched by Adults and children together – and the best Barbie movie (I reflect) was Princess and the Pauper where I composed accumulate it easy to sit down with my kids and study it. I wish Barbie movies would win aid to that sort of favorable, singing fun.

the things I found difficult is that although there was a strong basic narrative (getting the immunity berry) the whole thing was quite confusing for my under 5 year olds. There is so powerful going on that they lickety-split lost track of what was happening and who was who. There were too many characters and they all seemed to have marketing tie-ins – lots of mer-ferry’s, snails, mermaids, turtles, dolphins – the list went on and on. The overall fable which seemed to inaugurate it all seemed a former opinion from the initiate. Some of the characters faces were too provocative. In the early Barbie movies there unexcited seemed to be a semblance of reality, but the merferries and so on did seem oddly characterised, almost like Japanese Anime. Perhaps it is something children like, but I rob the broken-down animation, certainly the mix of the two was unsettling at times. Lastly, there is a moment when Elina and Nori glean marks of courage which witness like tatoos – call me conservative, but I don’t want my under 5 year veteran even thinking a tatoo is chilly – no matter what do it takes.

There were some genuinely grand moments in this film and despite its faults my children have watched it a couple of times, but it doesn’t really interest them in the map that the early dancing ones (swan lake for instance or Princess and the Pauper) I really hope the next movie planned is one of these sort.

I caught this today with my 4-year-old daughter on the Carve premier, and she loved it. And honestly, it wasn’t too difficult for me to sit through either. Having seen, and owning, every Barbie movie that has reach down the chute, I can say that this was by far the best of them, and will be picking it up on release day for myself.. er, my daughter.

21. Shep tries to convince the Marshall not strike. The Doctor has temporarily created a dynatype chip small to a localized location and the Key to Time stops time, for about 2-3 minutes. The Marshall’s ship is caught in a time loop. However, the time loop is stretching.

22. Astra is being controlled by the unlit guardian and Astra and Mirack net each other and go in search of the Doctor and arrive across the Tardis.

The Doctor says, “The white guardian would never have had a discard for life.” The Doctor destroys the Key to Time and restores Astra to her human design.

Both Boris Pasternak’s fantastic new and David Lean’s sparkling film version are among my favorites of all-time. The anecdote is basically about a poet/physician (Omar Sharif) who loves two women–his adoring wife, Tonya (Geraldine Chapin), and his enigmatic mistress, Lara (Julie Christie) –through the events of World War I and the Russian Revolution.

Robert Bolt’s screenplay balances the political upheaval with stunning, heartwrenching romance–one of the few films to succeed at this level. Lean, who seemed to manufacture a specialty of making films about illicit worship (Brief Encounter, Summertime, etc.), also works a tightrope, giving the film the well-known grandeur and sweep required for an chronicle while never losing observe of the intimacy of the characters. He is aided considerably by a stunning cast: Sharif, despite or perhaps because of his Egyptian background, provides the perfect perspective of an individual observing things around him, each time as if it were new–it’s a extraordinary performance; Christie is simply luminescent; Chaplin nicely understated; and there’s terrific befriend from Alec Guinness, Rod Steiger, Tom Courtney, etc.

Doctor Zhivago is, like the book it’s based on, a intelligent film that will reward the viewer with one of their most wonderful cinematic experiences.

This is one of the rare times when I actually liked the movie more than the book. Omar Sharif, Julie Christie and Rod Steiger, especially, are honest fantastic in David Lean’s adaptation of Pasternak’s yarn like epic. The script was pretty and lacked nothing; the actors couldn’t have done a better job at delivering their lines. It was extremely well paced and never lagged or felt rushed. Maurice Jarre’s haunting salvage is fair fair and weaves throughout the movie like a tapestry. The cinematography is beyond compare. The views of the Urals, the frozen Siberian tundra and the countryside in springtime (especially the daffodils!) will never be forgotten. In my belief, one of the greatest movies ever, never to be forgotten.

Ice Age: The Expansive Chill was very top-notch and titillating. Unbiased seen The Meltdown and was thoroughly entertained. Hollywood finally achieve something out that didn’t have a bunch of sex, blood and gore. Incredible one liners and originality in this. The QUEEN did an outstanding job, and Ray impartial made it all the better. This would be one for the DVD Library for definite. Kids AND adults both had a astronomical time. Thank you Hollywood for finally having something that was fun.

Syd finds respect and reassurance from a secret tribe of sloth’s that revere him as the “Fire God”. But it’s Scrat, everyone’s well-liked neurotic squirrel, that’s the apt star of this movie. My kids, and those all around us, laughed their heads off whenever Scrat’s crazy acorn antics were on conceal. My [...] dilapidated asked me today, “Can we go discover Ice Age 2 again? “. This version is good to the book and the acting is noble. The novel’s complexities are brought out by the actors in subtle ways. Kate Beckinsale was the perfect choice for Emma because she played her duel layers so wonderfully. Beckinsale played Emma’s intelligence against her lack of knowledge of the world, without being dull. She showed that Emma plan she was superb and had to learn that someone’s wrong in society does not create them a better person. Tag Strong is tremendous as Mr. Knightley. He plays it serious and heartfelt. Strong brought out Knightley’s strong beliefs and feelings with grace. Everyone else was also cast perfectly. The record was very staunch to the fresh. Emma is droll, but really a serious new about women’s residence in society. This version showed all these conplexities with ease and grace. It was beautifully shot and directed. This is truly an adaptation to be proud of and lots of fun to peek over and over. Emma is my second approved Austen modern on gradual Persuasion. I am overjoyed Austen’s less favorite works had such gigantic adaptations. Emma got the true treatment here concidering it was Austen’s longest new… I am contented to say that enough people liked it to create this spacious adaptation of her work.

This is a production which is delicious to gawk if not entirely memorable after the fact. I personally reflect Kate Beckinsale makes the perfect Emma. (I get it hard to imagine Gwyneth Paltrow in the same role, but I’m titillating to perceive that production as well.) Raymond Coulthard is also perfectly cast as Frank Churchill, the quintessential Jane Austen erroneous young cad (and I mean that as a compliment!) . Mr Knightley, the eventual romantic interest for Emma, is played by Stamp Strong, who does a very respectable job in the role although I must admit I had anguish seeing him as a romantic lead. Samantha Morton is very intriguing as Emma’s paralyzed friend, Harriet.

All in all, I give this production four stars. Although it is nowhere reach as compelling as the Pride and Prejudice with Colin Firth, or the Sense and Sensibility with Emma Thompson, it’s mild a well done film adaptation of a Jane Austen book – and that’s not easy.

The short-lived 13 episode sharp Saturday morning cartoon revisited the Planet of the Apes but was a departure from the customary landscape of the successful film franchise and live-action television series. Without the constraints of expensive live-action production, DePatie-Freleng Enterprises, which keen the classic Pink Panther cartoons, had the freedom to illustrate the lavish technologically advanced simian world as conceptualized by Pierre Boulle in his new unusual La Planète des Singes. Originally included as piece of the expensive Ultimate Planet of the Apes collector’s Ape Head site, Return to the Planet of the Apes is finally being released separately. “Flames of Doom” – Jeff, Bill and Judy fade through area and time and advance on a queer planet that appears to be ruled by humans. “Mission of Mercy” – When Nova falls ill, Bill, Jeff and Judy realise that her only hope is that they contact Cornelius for a serum that will cure her. But with slight aviation fuel left for the plane they stole from Urko, Bill and Jeff space out by road. Will they secure the serum in time?

“Invasion of the Underdwellers” – Burglars are striking all over Ape City and there’s a dismay when reports approach of it being the fault of the human Underdwellers. Judy contacts Kraydor, who denies responsibility, so she, Jeff and Bill station out to explain that the burglars are really Urko’s troops, looking for serve in one last colossal strike against the humans.

“Battle of the Titans” – After his framing of the Underdwellers, Urko has been relieved of duty and conception in the Simian Council is swinging relieve towards the scientists. Cornelius believes that it is now time to display A Day At The Zoo and sets out with Bill to retrieve it. But the giant flying lizard is not finished with them yet!

I’m writing this in reach of the release of the DVDs, so be advised this is a review of the series and not the steady DVD release. I have seen the reveal recently on conventional VHS tapes I recorded off of the Sci-Fi Channel and was surprised at how trustworthy the writing is. The display takes bits and pieces from all of the Apes project before it. From the book, it retains the 4 characters that were in the movie series: Zira, Cornelius, Nova, and Doctor Zaius. This Planet of the Apes also resembles the planet Soror in Boulle’s new in that the apes have 20th century technology. The only station that’s lacking, in the beginning, is the power to sail. From the movies, they took the Forbidden Zone, they reworked the mutants, an older Brent, and Austin Stoker (McDonald from Battle) plays the astronaut, Jeff. Urko and the fugitive format are borrowed from the CBS TV series.

The basic epic in the 2 piece opener is very familiar by now. Three astronauts land on the planet and are shy to earn that they are captured by apes. Zira and Cornelius attend them in their sprint.

The animation is poor. The panaramic style of the illustrators almost makes up for this, however. Intricate scenes are painted onto backgrounds. As the camera pans these scenes, one may forget for a time that they are making up for shortcomings in the budget. For this reason, I could not give it 5 stars.

The stories are imaginiative and serialized. I was drawn in by the power struggle between Zaius and Urko. Moral, there are a few turkeys. I could have done without the giant mountain ape, but overall it was light years above the ordinary Saturday morning fare of the 70s. I certainly would not recommend this to those who have not seen all 5 movies, and the live-action TV prove. To those who are hungry for more “Apes”, this series fits the bill.

My 2 year obsolete loves to witness Clifford and this video is pleasant and long enough to decide him down for his nap.

Julie Barnes (Claire Danes), Pete Cochrane (Giovanni Ribisi), and Lincoln Hayes (Omar Epps) have one thing in common: They’re young adults on the wrong side of the law, arrested for crimes of robbery, grievous bodily harm, and arson. Taken in by mentor and father figure Captain Adam Greer (Dennis Farina), they are assigned to a special task force working undercover for the police–the logic being that these kids can get into the hip young establishments that the older, more cynical officers can no longer infiltrate. Ill-suited to each other and chastised by their peers, this rogu squad is forced to come together when they uncover a seedy world of police corruption. Not knowing who to turn to, the kids are left with their wits and street cunning (they’re not allowed to carry guns) to overcome mounting odds against their survival.

With Hollywood facing increased pressure in 1999 to curb its screen violence, this film arrived with perfect timing. The only problem is the film was aimed at an audience that never saw the early-1970s TV series that inspired it, and this dubious recycling resulted in paltry returns at the box office. Nevertheless, this is an enjoyable action movie with some noteworthy performances–especially from Omar Epps, who shines with strength and vulnerability, like a young Laurence Fishburne. The energetic camera work and throbbing soundtrack also stand out, along with some retro styling and a plot that’s refreshingly free of excessive violence or gratuitous special effects. –Jeremy Storey
